The former personal attorney for Donald Trump has left her position as the chief federal prosecutor in the state. This comes after a legal ruling that questioned her legal standing to serve.
Official Departure
US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, confirmed her stepping down on the start of the week. In a statement that the judicial decision made it impossible for the official to effectively run her office.
"But do not mistake adherence to the ruling as defeat," she declared. "My fight will now extend throughout America."

Her resignation follows closely on a judicial panel determined that she had been unlawfully serving as the federal prosecutor. This decision is expected to impact scores of legal proceedings in the Garden State.
The appellate judges ruled that a acting appointment that skirted Senate approval breached the Federal Vacancies Reform Act.

It was also stated that she will continue working within the Department of Justice as a high-level advisor. They intend to seek further review of the disqualification, aiming for a reversal.
In a statement, Bondi contended that judges "must not override the executive's selection of prosecutors tasked with performing the executive branch's core responsibility of prosecuting crime."

Bondi praised her tenure and said that under her leadership, the state capital of Newark saw a 20% reduction in criminal activity. Additionally that the city of Camden had its initial homicide-free summer since 1974 with no murders.

The 41-year-old attorney, originally became part of Donald Trump's lawyers in 2021. She went on to represented the former president in his business records case in the previous year, when he was guilty verdict on dozens of charges of financial record manipulation.
