The celebrated British actress Mirren, currently recipient of an Oscar statuette, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, along with a Tony Award, is set to earn an additional esteemed prize to her shelf: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' career honor.

Ceremony Details

Mirren, octogenarian, who was made a dame during 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will accept the award during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony take place, during a program described by the organization as the Golden Eve event.

Also part of the event will be the bestowal of the organization’s Carol Burnett prize for TV work, whose winner has yet to be announced. Last year’s winners featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is a powerhouse performer, with a career is absolutely remarkable,” remarked the Golden Globes president, the Globes’ leader. “Her transcendent performances and dedication to acting persistently influence numerous actors and fans too. We are deeply honored to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Notable Roles

Helen Mirren became well-known in the 1970s through significant parts in stage productions in London’s theater district and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She won an Oscar for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 within The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and premier the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

Golden Globe nominations will be announced on the eighth of December, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
