Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
