Our department has a fleet of tens of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our staff is not to plug MoD devices into their car, not to have conversations at a secret classification in any kind of vehicle, because of the increasing risks of eavesdropping that are present in all automobile, to only have those confidential conversations in protected areas. This is a wise and sensible thing for anyone worried about security.

The announcement comes as reports from Scandinavian countries have warned the United Kingdom to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese buses, which could enable China to switch off public transport and cause disruption to transport systems.
