19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

The win also means he has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
