Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative locally engineered interceptor drone to reinforce its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have begun production, with an additional eleven preparing to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created system called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Assault on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly detected overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president reported the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. The deceased were at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection After Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan said it issued a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday following the embassy damage. Moscow plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, including 500 of a new, extended-range model that can reach additional urban centers. Russian forces have been launching hundreds of aerial bombs per day, with last month’s daily average being about 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Attacks Focus on Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

Global Sanctions Impact Moscow's Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its international holdings after last month’s restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” Lukoil commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies announced. The Ukrainian president would meet representatives from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
