Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the football calendar , after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their unbeaten records.
Striking in those games was the number of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.
But it was positive to see that Denver quarterback the rookie was able to have the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing more than four defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the interior then drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.
Early on of the season, it was noted on a program how Denver might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well and excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has stepped up big and new running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass all over, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, and he's highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, being able to throw while moving, and using varied release points to deliver the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.
For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.
When you constantly run the ball it eats up time and forces the defence to stay in play for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the area downfield side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's fun for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can truly develop him the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.
The head coach owns a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you during some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this trajectory.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.
Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet because Denver {beat|def
